How It's Tested?

The effects of the radiation depend on the rate at which energy is absorbed by a mass of tissue, like your head. It is called the specific absorption rate (SAR) and measured in watts per kilogram (W/kg). To test the (SAR) they use a mold in the shape of a human head that is filled with a fluid formulated to simulate the electrical properties of the human tissue. This fluid typically is made up of salt, sugar, water and a viscosity additive. Overall temperature and humidity was also controlled in this experiment. The first thing that is done is that they strap a phone to the head. The testing system consists of a computer-controlled probe, a robotic arm, amplifier output that connects to a PC and a cable that connects to a universal radio communication tester. The phone is placed on a simulated call with the radio communication tester. The probe scans the head, measures the frequency, and locates the spot of highest absorbtion. This process takes antwhere from 20 to 30 minutes to complete. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/10/cellphone-radiation-testing/

Negatives Of Cell Phones

Everywhere around us we are surrounded by electromagnetic radiation (EMR). This is produced by electrical appliances, such as microwaves. Also, wiring in buildings which are all over and surrounding us. With the increase use of appliances and all the other technology such as radio alarm clocks and even the celluar phone you may use fo hours at a time the exposure to EMR is growing and becoming a serious health threat.

While undetectable to the eye, scientists have proposed that electromagnetic radiation may pose serious health effects, ranging from childhood leukemia to brain tumors. As scientists continue to look at the dangers it makes good sense to avoid these potentially dangerous frequencies as much as possible.

Government regulators and the cell phone industry refuse to admit the problem exists while more than two billion cell phone users being exposed every day to the dangers of electromagnetic radiation.

Radiation: Studies have linked that the radiation given off of cell phones and tower-based antennas carrying signals can develope brain tumors, genetic damage, and other exposure-related conditions.

Most of us have only been using Cell phones for less than a decade. If there is indeed a cumulative risk to using a mobile phone, it's possible that users won't be aware of it until it's too late. The same thing happened with the connection of cigarette smoking and lung cancer. The media tries to say that cell phones are completely safe while no studies can prove it.

Cell Phones Increase Communication

The Cell Phones today are more compact and easier to carry. This allows people to carry them around and make quick phone calls to whoever. Most of them even have cameras in them so you can take a picture of anything and send or share it with someone else. Some of the other advantages of a cell phone is that they help the people that have to travel. For example, some phones have a navigator such as gps to give directions and nearby attractions. Cell phones are also good to keep in touch with family members so you know that they are alright or where they are. This is made easy by simple text messages that can be sent out to them. They are very easy to send and recieve so it is great for both people.

Increase Use of Cell Phones

The use of cell phones is increasing while the use of landlines are decreasing. Technology is becoming increasingly popular even among older populations. About half of U.S. adults who only use a cell phone are 30 or over, while only one third are 18 to 29 year olds.
